First of all, let me be the 200th person to wish you a Happy New Year. I don’t know about you but last year was kind of a tough year for me, I had some spectacular highs and some devastating lows but I am super excited to have it behind me and looking forward to what this New Year has in store for me.
There’s just something magical about the beginning of another year. I like to see it as the universe giving us a gift of 365 (or in this case 366) days to do over and right some of the mistakes of years yonder.
I’ve never been one to make New Years resolutions, not because I do not believe in them but because I never found much success following through except the time I gave up carbonated soft drinks (9 years today) and when I decided to pursue a graduate degree (by far one of the best decisions I ever made).
Even though I’m not making any New Year resolutions, I am forging ahead with completing some of the projects I started last year as well as setting new goals. I’m a firm believer that you can make life changing decisions and set goals at any time and any day, you just have to them realistic and measurable (cliche, I know).
I’m sure many of you have grand plans for 2018, like taking better care of your health (extremely important) , investing and improving your finances, spending more time with family, travelling more, getting that dream job or becoming your own bosses. Whatever your plans are for 2018, remember that there are several factors outside of your control that would determine how successful or unsuccessful you would be in fulfilling them so don’t be too hard on yourself if things don’t work out as you envisioned.
Economics are predicting that 2018 is going a good year so I’m pretty pumped about what is to come and encourage you to have the same attitude. Bring out your journal, get a vision board and start making notes of what you want to see and experience in this year and work towards getting them done.
